Dr. Vakhtin joined the staff of Southwest Sciences as a Senior Research Scientist in June, 2002, having arrived from JILA, University of Colorado and NIST, where he studied low temperature gas phase kinetics. His professional experience also includes appointments at the National Institute for Advanced Interdisciplinary Research in Japan and at the Institute of Chemical Kinetics and Combustion in Russia.
Dr. Vakhtin’s research interests include kinetics of gas-phase reactions involving radicals, ions and molecules; unimolecular reactions; reactivity and spectroscopy of metal clusters; photochemistry; collisional energy transfer; laser methods of excitation and detection of radicals and molecules; biomedical imaging. He is a member of the American Chemical Society and the Optical Society of America.
